The historical painting is based on a photograph preserved by the grandson of the Kiborts family, taken in the 1930s. The idea to create the painting came from the local history association “Patria.” The association’s director received the photograph—a gift from Rišards Labanovskis, the grandson of the Kiborts family. The artist, Dagda resident Jans Bartkevičs, transformed the 8 x 11 cm photograph into an 18-square-meter painting within a week.
