Dagda Hillfort (also called Zamok) was one of the most significant fortifications in the area. It is located on the western shore of Lake Narūta, rising about 20 meters above the surrounding terrain, with an absolute height of approximately 175–180 meters above sea level. In ancient times, the hillfort was fortified with ditches and ramparts. Its plateau forms an irregular quadrangle, measuring roughly 100 × 50 meters. A cultural layer more than 1 meter thick has been identified on the hillfort. The cultural layer is also found at the western foot of the hillfort, where a settlement once existed. Ceramics, fragments of iron objects, and other ancient artifacts discovered both on the hillfort and in the settlement indicate that the area was inhabited from the 1st millennium BCE to the early centuries of the 2nd millennium CE.
