The idea of creating the painting came from the local history society “Patria”. The photo taken in the 1930s came to its leader as a gift from the noblemen’s Ķibortu grandson Rišarda Labanovskis. The artist, Jans Bartkevičs, a resident of Dagda, turned an 8 x 11 cm photograph into an 18 m2 painting within a week.
