Lubānes Hillfort, rising about 30 m above the surrounding area (absolute height ~174 m), is located on the western edge of Dagda, near the small Lake Luboneņš. The flat top of the mound, about 50 m in length, once served as a settlement area, and a clear spring still flows there. Today, the castle mound is a popular walking and viewing spot, offering wide views of Dagda and the surrounding fields, and is a nationally significant cultural monument.
